Adam and Eve were God-conscious until they sinned. Then they became self-conscious. Also self-aware, self-interested, self-centred, and self-everything else in their lives.
Believe in Jesus, and God will give you a new self, one that wants what God desires and enables you to do His will as Jesus did. Why would you not want a selfless conscience? Why would you rather choose to cart around the conscious baggage of your old life, with the heavy weight of your sins and selfishness, when God, through your acceptance of Jesus, can enable you to live a guilt-free life?
Conscience is akin to consciousness. Adam and Eve were both God-conscious until they sinned and so became self-conscious. Jesus shed his blood on the Cross for the sins we committed and, through our “birth from above” — our having been “born again” — turned from our sins and placed our trust in him alone, are new creations in Christ. You too can live happily and confidently in this life and continue doing so thereafter in the next life.
A “Once upon a time” new beginning and a “Happy, ever after” ending is not just the stuff of fairy tales but the expectation of everyone who trusts in the Lord Jesus. He is The Way, The Truth, and The Life. As St. Augustine wrote: “Without the Way there is no going; without the Truth there is no knowing; without the Life there is no living.” A very true statement.
Are you ready and willing to become a follower of Jesus? You are? Believe in your heart that Jesus died for your sins, confess that he is your Lord and that God raised him from death to life, and you will be saved — made safe. Not just Happy in this life but Foreverever After in the next life.
Please do so now because this will bring peace with God and personal peace in your heart and mind. If you do so, you will find true happiness in this life and in the life which is to come. Once Upon a Time is Now and Happy Ever After will be Forever.
