When Hope Fails, Faith Keeps Going

The difference between Hope and Faith is revealed in Romans chapter 4 and Hebrews 11:1. The first says that Abraham, “when all hope was gone, believed [on] in hope that he would become the father of many nations” and, (verse 19) “being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead [as to the possibility of having a son]…”

In his place, we might have pondered the possibility, but Abraham did not even consider the impossibility! The inspired apostle Paul refers to us as Abraham’s children! (Galatians 3:7, 29) Well, then, since Abraham is our faith-father, his characteristics quite naturally appear in us!

God “makes alive the dead, and calls those things that are not as though they were.” The “dead” in this instance was Abraham’s progenitive ability! Hebrews 11:1 informs us that “faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” This might well be a reference to Abraham. This verse defines faith more than any other verse in the Bible.

Abraham’s walk with God is perhaps the best narrative in the Bible on how faith works in the face of impossibility. So, when a thing appears impossible to you, consider yourself as being in a “life from the dead” zone, where miracles from God are not only possible or even probable but absolutely certain!

If you happen to run out of Hope, keep going in Faith! Think not of the problems that come with expectancy, but rather the joy that will come from what Hope and Faith brings forth. Any problems during a pregnancy vanish with the birth of a baby!
