The electricity that provides us with light and power is generated by power stations. Not to use it would be unthinkable. Not to use the faith of God has provided would be even more so. Like washing clothes in a wood-heated copper, as did our great grandparents. Or like using a woodstove heated flat iron, which they had to. If that appeals, you may have enjoyed life as a pioneer back in the 19th century.
We who are empowered by the Spirit of God and been given spiritual gifts should use them as readily as we use electricity. God’s faith in us does not diminish, no matter what the usage. Our bodies get weary but His faith in us remains constant and ready for purpose when our physical strength returns.
Evangelist Oral Roberts once wrote of how, after ministering for hours to sick people, he was stopped while heading for his car by a very sick lady. When she asked him to pray for her, he declined. He told her that after ministering to the sick for hours he was tired and had no faith left.
“I don’t need your faith,” said the lady; “I have the faith and you have the power!” So, Oral prayed and she was healed. As he reached his car, the Lord spoke to him and said, “I healed her, but you will receive no reward.” The evangelist had been worn out physically, but the Lord never grows weary!
I thought it big of Oral to divulge this incident, but that was the kind of man the great evangelist was. If he had disregarded his tiredness and prayed for the lady, God would have healed her through his hands.
We do not generate faith; we consume God-given faith! He has provided enough for every need, whether it be for our salvation, or for healing, or for casting out demons, or whatever else. I am so glad that when my physical strength fails, God’s power remains constant! God gives faith to those who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and has provided enough for everyone.
Saturate your soul in the words of Jesus found in Mark 11:20-23 until every lingering doubt in your heart has disappeared. Doubt isn’t new but passed on from generation to generation and reused by Satan to tempt people. The three temptations Satan used in his attempt to make Jesus sin were reused from his successful tempting of Adam and Eve. There’s nothing new under Satan’s sun, just temptations represented. Faith shields us from his “fiery darts” which come in the form of accusations. Faith turns them into fairy darts. Faith is your Divine credit card — don’t leave home without it!
