I wrote a book years ago for a man who had been criminally insane, but who found Jesus Christ. He had been pardoned and informed me that the government had destroyed all records of his criminal acts. God did the same for us when we came to Jesus; there is no record of our past sins. Present sins are forgiven when we confess them (1 John 1:9).
The difference between being pardoned and being paroled is in the first every record of wrongdoing is deleted! But when a wrongdoer is paroled, the record is not removed but retained so that in the event of a breach the original court sentence can be carried out. Those who put their trust in Jesus are not under a suspended sentence or parole and so live without any memory whatever of sins they committed prior to being forgiven. “Your sins I will remember no more.” Sins committed as Christians, when confessed to God, are also forgiven and removed from memory. Thank God!
Jesus died on the Cross for the sins of the world and rose again and intercedes for those who have put their trust in him as their Saviour and Lord. Jesus was not just “a” prophet as some think but “the” Prophet of Deuteronomy 18:18, who rose and became the Great High Priest of all who believe. On his return to earth, he will reign as King over his people and rule over the nations.
