Watching and Waiting…

The shadows of a dying day are long and drawn-out, as are those that can be seen in the early light of a new day. The first light of our Lord’s return is now shining on many nations. Soon, the dawn of the age of the Lord’s visible kingdom, now heralded by the bright Morning Star, will soon become a blaze of glory with the appearance of the returning Son.

After 400 years of prophetic silence between Malachi, the closing book of the Old Testament, and Matthew, the opening book of the New Testament, the Messiah Jesus appeared to Anna and Simeon, who welcomed the child, and John the Baptist announced the grown man.

“…It is high time to wake up, for our salvation is now nearer than when we first believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand…” (Romans 13:11, 12) The darker the shadows the brighter the light, and moonlight — especially a full moon — casts darker, sharper shadows than the noonday sun. Artists know this, as do Christians persecuted for sharing their faith.

Jesus is the Light of the New Jerusalem, a City in which there will be no dying days, no moonlight wishes, and no early morning hopes or late afternoon shadows of disappointment. The indescribable Heaven will be our Forever Home. I’m sure that, like me, you can hardly wait.
