Walls Have Ears and So Does Your Mind!

So many ageing people greet their friends with a question about their current health — it’s often the first thing they say! When one asks you about your health, I suggest that you reply with “Excellent! “

I talk to my body. I tell it that God’s word declares that He heals “all” our diseases. I then order it to function as God intended. I’m not super-fit physically but I am healthy for my age. I avoid sickness like the plague. (A cliché joke.) When a doctor at a hospital once asked me how often I visit there, I replied, “As little as possible.” He smiled but I was serious.

I believe in proven medical science and in physicians. I also believe in eating healthy food. God wants me well and He is not only able but willing to heal me when I am unwell. Some Christians believe the first but not the second. But if God was not willing to heal His people, why then did Jesus heal everyone who came to him? After all, he did “always” those things that pleased God his Father.

Jesus said “Healing is the children’s bread” to an outsider and when she used his own words to further her request he remarked that her faith was greater than any he had seen among his own people! He then set free the outsider’s demonized daughter.

The Lord’s Prayer says that we should ask, “Give me this day my daily bread.” Pray this every morning and through the Lord’s words to your heart you’ll soon enjoy God’s gift to you of good physical health, good mental health; and overall well-being! Then you’ll be able to greet your aging friends with a positive statement instead of waiting for their all-too-familiar question.

When I’m asked how long I think I’ll live, I reply, “Well, if I say until I reach 100, I might die when I reach that age because I’ve set that as my age limit. So, I say “105 years, and when I reach that age, I’ll then decide on what I ought to do for the rest of my life.” OK, I’m stretching it a bit, but isn’t that what most of us do?

Be careful what you say, because your mind will be listening and will program your body to live as long as you predict. Note: This is NOT medical advice. It’s simply good sense. “Live long and Prosper” did not have its origin in Dr. Spock in Star Trek but in the apostle John’s inspired wish for the progressive good health and wellbeing of those beloved to him in the Lord Jesus; and we know from NT Greek that John’s wish was God’s will. (3 John, verse 2) “The walls have ears!” was a Home Front warning sign during  WW2 to the effect that the ears of enemy agents could be listening to conversations in pubs and other social places. Enemy Agents are still out there, listening to words that reveal what you are thinking in the secrecy of your mind. Demons are also listening and will repeat in your ear the thoughts you put into words. Don’t become so paranoid that you never open your mouth, and bear in mind that some paranoids do have enemies.
