The “day of the Lord” shall not come unless there first be a great apostasy, a wholesale falling away from the Faith by those thought to have been Christians. It could come about through the introduction of a cashless society, one in which the banks control it by electronic transactions.
There are other ways that those who are thought to be or think themselves to be Christians could fall away in large numbers. The submission to state government directions during the Covid-19 outbreak by media-scared citizens, and two state premiers who were unrelentless in their oppression is proof enough of how fear can be used to manipulate citizens of a country who think they are free.
Now is the time to examine yourself to see if you are “in the Faith”. Did you commit your life to Jesus Christ? You did? Wonderful! Have you been baptized in water according to the apostle Peter’s Acts 2:38 instruction? Praise God! Have you received the gift — not the gifts, plural, from the Holy Spirit but the Gift, singular, from Jesus? Wonderful!
Are you in regular fellowship with other believers in a local church in which you are active? Do you share your faith with those around you — most of whom may be doomed unless they hear the Good News of God’s salvation through you?
You cannot choose to ‘unlove’ Christ unless you did not really love him in the first place. Was your ‘decision for Jesus’ real or was it an emotional decision? There’s nothing wrong with the latter; it’s just that conversion is spiritual before emotional.
If you have been “born again” — “born from above” — by the Holy Spirit after believing in Jesus Christ, have been baptized in water by immersion in the Name of Jesus Christ, and then baptized in the Holy Spirit — there’s no way that you will ever renounce your Lord Jesus, no matter what.
But what if extreme pressure is applied to you, in the way of threats? Don’t worry, in that event, God will give you the grace to stand up to threats and power despite them. But why think of What If? The Lord has these things covered. You don’t have to know how the Lord will protect and preserve you — just that he has promised that he will. God’s grace will see you through!
We live in exciting times with fear and anxiety all around us, yet we remain unafraid and “anxious for nothing” because we have peace in our hearts; the peace that Jesus gives. The world did not give and so cannot take away. So, when things around you look grim, stop looking around and instead look up!
