The Hebrews 11:6 Challenge

Those who approach the true God must not only believe that He exists but that He also rewards. The idea that God exists but does not reward is not an argument, since there is no way of proving that He does exist!

Who needs an aloof or uninterested god? But then again, who needs an abstract concept when concrete proof is available for all to see? Those who refuse to believe that any kind of God exists are left either having to believe in themselves or in nothing. Bon chance with the first; none at all with the second.

More than 60 years ago, I put my faith in God, who convinced me that He not only exists but that He also rewards — even though at times He gives me what I need rather than what I ask for, the difference between Wants and Needs, but what loving father doesn’t? I refuse to mouth the religious platitudes so often delivered from pulpits that non-believers see as merely excuses for unanswered prayers.

Most people don’t know the difference between comfort requests and earned rewards. Now and then, I encounter a genuine seeker after Truth, who will ask me if I have witnessed any real proof that God exists. “Sure,” I respond, and then add: “How much time do you have?”
