Self-gratification and regret are separated by a heartbeat. A life lost in that short moment is irretrievable. Time is limited and that time just ran out.
Likewise, becoming separated from fellowship with other Christians, soon distances a person from other Christians and from the presence of the Lord Jesus. Although not instant, it is inevitable. A coal removed from a fire quickly loses the heat that came from being in touch with the other hot coals.
Once out of fellowship, the world becomes more relevant than the church once loved, and the now detached believer finds himself or herself more in agreement with those at home in the world and its lesser regard for values.
Names come to my mind of many people I’ve known who were born again, water baptized and Spirit filled but are now back in the world doing things of the kind they never thought possible. To them I say: “Come home!” Please! While you still can. Before it’s too late. Read Jeremiah 13:17, and hear the voice of God speaking to your soul; to your real self. Then respond. You know how; there is but one way.
After you have confessed your sins to God and then asked for His forgiveness through Jesus Christ you will be back where you once belonged, and all memory of those sins will be not just forgiven but forgotten.
The reason Jesus bled and died on the Cross to save you from your sins is that God loved you and sent him to bring you back. Is that not enough? If you believe so, thank God, praise Jesus, and be grateful. If not, there’s nothing more that I or anyone else — not even God — can say or do to help you, and that’s not just sad, it’s sad beyond words.
