Paul’s Second Prayer

Paul’s second prayer in his letter from “the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ” to the Christians at Ephesus was (1) That He would grant them, out of His glorious riches, to be “strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man”; (2) That [through this] “Christ would dwell in their hearts through faith”; (3) That they, being “rooted and grounded” [firmly established] in love, would then be able to comprehend, together with every holy believer, “the width and length and depth and height” [the vast, unlimited expanse] of Christ’s love — a love that passes knowledge; (4) That they may be “filled with all the fullness of God” (Ephesians 3:14-19).

Paul finishes his expansive, heartfelt prayer with a doxology, one that elevates his readers above and beyond human comprehension. We are not meant to wrap our minds around Paul’s words, but rather embrace them and allow them to lift us out of the realm of the mundane and into the glorious presence of God. Praying this prayer will give you spiritual wings!
