When we share a plan, some people are quick to tell us how it didn’t
work for them so we shouldn’t proceed with it. But they are not us and
we are not them. It may be that we will succeed where they failed
because we were willing to try a little harder. Someone has said that
success may result from just 10% more effort. But what if it were just
1% more effort and we just missed it?
Maxwell Smart, the hapless spy in the TV series “Get Smart” would say
with gritted teeth — “Missed it by THAT Much!” In some cases, “a miss
can be as good as a mile”, but not a missed opportunity.
“Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might…”
(Ecclesiastes 9:10) The last half of the verse tells us why: “For
there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave
where you are going.” So, with all due diligence, make the most of the
opportunities that come your way.
Especially the opportunity to be saved from your sins, that is to
receive the free pardon that God offers you since Jesus bore your sins
on the Cross so God could forgive you.
As Psalm 95:9-11 so beautifully expresses it: “Surely His salvation is
near those who fear Him; that glory may dwell in our land. Mercy and
truth have met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each
other. Truth shall spring out of the earth, and righteousness shall
look down from heaven.”
Which is a poetic way of saying “It’s all good!” The question is
whether all is well between you and God? If not, a short, sincere
prayer to God in the name of Jesus will enter your name into God’s
Good Book (which the Bible describes as “The Book of Life”). Please do
not put this off till another day because “Today is the day of
salvation” and so is your opportunity to get right with God — and you
must not miss it!
