I’m believing for many hype-free ministries to arise in the coming outpouring. No focus on 20th-century era performances and FX or 21st century AI. Just the Spirit of the Lord saving, healing, filling people and setting them free. More emphasis on the message and less on the messenger. These days many are flowing in the gifts of the Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:8-10) but we need to balance that with growing the fruit of the spirit (Galatians 5:22-23).
The children of Israel were drawn to enter the Promised Land from the report that it was “flowing with milk and honey” — both natural products. But they were less happy on entering the Land and learning that from then on they would need to grow the food required. Not much has changed in that many Spirit-filled Christians still prefer flowing to growing.
So, while preaching on the gifts of the Spirit, let’s not overlook the fruit of the spirit; as much on what the Lord did in dying for us on the Cross as on the demonstration of his power from the platform.
I love seeing God’s power at work in the lives of those who’ve turned away from sin and toward Jesus, and I love seeing the transforming power of the Holy Spirit at work in them as Christians. I’d just like to see it happen with less Hoo-Ha and more Hallelujah.
