Jesus said, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall inherit the eath.” I was born in 1940 and through all the years since have not seen the wars and conflicts which are currently afflicting nations worldwide.
Those who believe in Jesus Christ know what it is to experience the peace of God within them in times of trouble and upheaval. We do not need to ask God for it because it is within our hearts and minds, we just need to release it wherever and whenever things around us appear to be out of control. We need to do as Jesus did when on a boat during a sudden storm on the Sea of Galilee, which is release God’s resident peace into stormy situations that spring up suddenly and unexpectedly. These are often emotional and are visible in the fears of those around us who’ve not yet received Jesus as their Lord and Saviour and so do not understand how we respond rather than react to dangers.
Here are 12 reassuring bible verses, gathered by Evelyn Johnson, which, when read often and remembered will help you and I to act appropriately in threatening situations and circumstances:
1. Mark 4:39 – “And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.”
2. Psalm 46:10 – “Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.”
3. Isaiah 26:3 – “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”
4. Philippians 4:7 – “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
5. John 14:27 – “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
