I had just ended my early morning prayers when the Lord dropped some words of scripture into my spirit. It was one of those “out of the blue” moments. I found the words in Isaiah chapter 60, verse 8. “Who are these that fly as a cloud, and as doves to their windows?”
It came to me that many Christians over the years who had moved on were about to return to their place of origin — as do doves and homing pigeons. Then two such Christians came to church, one indicating she was back to stay.
Has the Lord been calling you to return to your spiritual birthplace? Just as doves do to their windows, their nests? “Clouds” of like-minded believers are about to do so — bringing with them what they’ve learned and experienced during their absence — things they’ll contribute to the ongoing life of our church.
The same morning that I received Isaiah 60:8, I saw a funny post on Facebook that exulted in the fact that pigeons a person had sold on eBay had just returned home for the 22nd time!
There’s an old saying: “All your chickens have come home to roost”, which is a negative. But “All your doves have come home to nest” is a positive. And when they do, we will welcome them. Not for a stopover but for a homestay!
