Twilight means “two lights — one of the Sun and the other the moon. In twilight, the direct light of the Sun is slowly replaced by the reflective light of the Moon. The theological analogy of these two heavenly lights is brought up during discussions on the divinity and humanity of Jesus.
Did Jesus merely reflect God, as some say, or was Jesus God? And if so, how? The Apostle Paul answer: “God was in Christ…” How in him?
In his divine nature, which made Jesus not only the Son of Man but also the Son of God.
Let’s not allow ourselves to become confused by incomprehensible writings such as the Athanasian Creed, when the earlier Apostles’ Creed sums up the facts clearly, adequately and, most importantly, scripturally. “In [Christ] dwells all the fullness of the Deity, bodily.”
God was in Christ. Don’t try to interpret this mentally but instead allow the Bible to interpret itself as you compare scripture with scripture and by accepting the definitions of John 17:3 and 1 John 5:20 and others with thanks! As my late mother often said, “It will all come out in the wash.” Scriptural complexities come out in the renewing of the mind.
