God wants you well because…
Your body is His temple
Your body conveys His love
Your body contains His power
God is a Healer by Name
“YAWEH Ropheka” — “The LORD that heals.” (Exodus 16:26)
God is a Healer by Nature
He desires to heal His spiritual children as much as we desire to
see our natural children well.
God is a Healer by Design
Our body marshals its defences to repel invasive germs and foreign substances.
God is a Healer by Providence
God’s creation contains every natural medicine we will ever need.
God heals in five ways:
1. God heals through the Authority of His Word — “Speak the word only and my servant shall be healed.” (A Roman centurion’s request to Jesus.)
2. God heals through His Power — through gifts of healing, by His Spirit touching people during a meeting, by personal promises coming to pass.
3. God heals in response to prayer — The effective, fervent prayers of mature spiritual elders in churches known by all for their integrity.
4. God heals through our hands — “They shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover…”
5. God heals through “points of contact”; e.g., the woman’s touch on the Lord’s robe; Naaman’s obedience in dipping himself (as ordered by Elijah) into the Jordan River seven times.
God’s will is that we be 100% healed — which is what “whole” means. Anything less than 100% falls short! But don’t blame yourself should you not be healed — the last thing a sick person needs is to wonder what they did to make them undeserving. “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” So, if Divine Healing is not preached from the pulpit less faith for healing will be present and so little or no expectancy in the heart.
God heals for many reasons, the first being that He loves us and we are sick. Other factors may be involved such as overeating, faulty dietary practices, or too many fast food takeaways. We expect a physical check and a diagnosis from our physicians and only then a prognosis, so why would we expect miracles, which are instant, when recoveries may be required for strength to be regained?
“They shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” Recoveries take time. “And he began to amend.” Bottles of prescribed pills from chemists are labelled with cautionary warnings which, when ignored, can alter good outcomes. I have witnessed a great number of healings after laying my hands on sick and injured people, and many miracles as well. But in every case Jesus has been the Healer — and to God be the glory!
