Five Things the Holy Spirit Brings

The New Testament reveals how the presence of the Holy Spirit supplied exactly what the early church needed in every situation and circumstance. The Holy Spirit will do the same for you today, because when you receive the Holy Spirit…

1. You will have the FIRE of the Holy Spirit to praise the Lord in unlearned languages, and then testify in your native tongue. “He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit AND FIRE.” (Luke 3:16) “And there appeared to them cloven tongues like fire, and it sat upon each of them, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak in other tongues, as the Holy Spirit gave them utterance.” (Acts 2:4)

2. You will have POWER to heal those oppressed by Satan and to bear witness to Jesus worldwide. “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit AND POWER; who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.” (Acts 10:38) “But you shall receive POWER, after that the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be my witnesses…” (Acts 1:8)

3. You will have JOY to express your freedom and to release you from restrictive influences. “And the disciples were filled with joy and the Holy Spirit.” (Acts 13:52) “For the kingdom of God is not food and drink; but righteousness, and peace, AND JOY in the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 14:17)

4. You will receive COMFORT and will enjoy growth after seasons of persecution. (Acts 9:31) “Then had all the churches rest throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria, and were edified; and walking in the fear of the Lord, and in the COMFORT of the Holy Spirit, were multiplied.”

5. You will have a sincere desire to FELLOWSHIP with other believers.

“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, AND the FELLOWSHIP (communion) of the Holy Spirit, be with you all.” (2 Corinthians 13:14)

These are but five of the many virtues, benefits and abilities you will receive in the Holy Spirit (love and peace are two more that come to mind). Whatever the situation or circumstance, the Holy Spirit will “come alongside” to help you through or to help you out.

So, don’t think of the Holy Spirit solely as God’s power, but of God Himself. His personal abilities will be yours after His Spirit dwells in you. Count on the Holy Spirit as being there for you, and for others through you, in those times when you, and they, need extra help or encouragement!
