Jesus will soon return and call us up to meet him in the clouds and then descend with him to Earth, where we shall reign with him. Not in Heaven but on Earth. The NT Greek in Acts 28:15 matches that of 1 Thessalonians 4:17 and Matthew 25:1. Each text conveys the thought of coming out to meet and greet a person or persons, and to welcome their arrival, and then of accompanying them to their journey’s end.
Many great hymns, sweet with sentiment, were written after tragic personal losses. They’ve been an immense help in seasons of loss and grief. There’s no better way to handle problems than to sing about the Lord Jesus while awaiting his return. After rising to meet him, we will descend with him to a world in desperate need of his divine rule.
Escapism is not and cannot be an answer to the problems of this sin-polluted planet. We will reenter Planet Earth with Jesus in like immortal, indestructible, bodies, and work under his direction to sort out the mayhem.
Some might think of this biblical promise as mere religious fantasy or as biologically impossible, but I question why they believe that science and technology will succeed through the development of AI in a union of humanity and technology, which they believe will enable humanity to live for an infinite number of years and do the things that they think our God cannot.
I have news for them! We serve The Almighty, not the almostly.
