A Quick Glimpse of Heaven on Earth

The transformation of Jesus and the appearance of Moses and Elijah on the Mount of Transfiguration were not merely a vision but a portal that opened briefly when Heaven touched Earth. Moses, representing the Law, and Elijah, the Prophet, appeared from another dimension — from Eternity into Time. (Matthew, chapter 17.) The transfiguration ended with the disappearance of Moses and Elijah, leaving Jesus standing alone before the disciples Peter, James, and John. The symbols of the Law and the Prophets had disappeared, and Grace, in the person of Jesus, stood alone.

There being no Time in Heaven, Moses and Elijah were likely not a day older — despite the thousands of years that separated them from the Lord Jesus and his three disciples.

Eternity touched Time in recognition that the Law and the Prophets were to be fulfilled in the life and ministry of Jesus Christ. This shining revelation revealed the divine nature of the Son of God in a robe “whiter than white” — brighter than any bleach could have made it. The effect on the woven, linen robe worn by Jesus speaks to me of the warp of the Divine nature of the Son of God and the weft of the human nature of the Son of Man –woven together in the Person of Jesus Christ.

It intrigues me that we in whom Jesus dwells by the Spirit of God are “partakers of the divine nature” (2 Peter 1:4), which indicates that the revelation of the Sons of God will also be both instant and glorious! Moreover, it will be an event through which Creation itself — the natural world — will be transformed in an instant! (Romans 8:18-21) The new nature we received when “born from above” is divine! It cannot sin because it is born of God.

Now, back to the scene…

Peter, as usual, intruded into this unique visitation by suggesting that it be ‘captured’ by the building of three booths — one for Jesus, one for Moses, and one for Elijah. (Nowadays, the sight would call for a selfie.) God’s booming voice put an end to his suggestion: “This is My Beloved Son, HEAR HIM!” Not Moses(Law) nor Elijah (the Prophets), but Jesus only

A vision? I think not. More of a preview of things to come, when the new creation transforms the old ‘robe’ of flesh in a moment of time at the sound of the Last Trumpet, and we who are alive and remain are caught up with those who “sleep” and are counted worthy to rise in the First Resurrection. An experience to which we can look forward with great expectation!! One that will surpass anything offered by this world can offer!

Do you find it hard when thinking of things you’ll miss if you surrender your life to the Lord Jesus? Seriously? Will you refuse the opportunity to be with God now and forever and instead choose a lifespan of maybe 80 years without Jesus, without eternal life assurance, not to mention the possibility of dying from accident or illness? “You must be joking!” is what might come to mind, but the choice is far too serious for levity.

The Lord spoke to my heart recently and said that in eternity, those who in their lives believed in Jesus will remember nothing of the past, not even those they loved who died without responding to the call of Jesus. He also said that those who end up in Hell will not forget but will remember everything, and that their cries of remorse and self-recrimination will never end. What a terrifying thought! Please ensure that you surrender your life to the Lord here and now, while you still can.
