Adam and Eve were God-conscious until they sinned. Then they became self-conscious. Not only that but also self-aware, self-interested, self-centered.
Believe in Jesus, and God will give you a new self, one that wants what God desires and enables you to do His will as Jesus did. Why would you not want a self-free conscience? Why would you rather choose to cart around conscious baggage from your old life, with its heavy weight of sins, when through your acceptance of Jesus, God can enable you to live a guilt-free life?
In the Greek language of the New Testament, conscience is in the same word family as consciousness. Adam and Eve were both God-unconscious that sin existed until they ate the forbidden fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil and became self-conscious (and knew that they were naked”). Fig leaves, whether Adam and Eve’s real ones back then or figurative ones now, cannot cover sin (notwithstanding the ceaseless persistence of Freudian-style psychiatrists with the latter).
Jesus willingly shed his blood on the Cross for the sins of all humanity, and through our “birth from above” — our “born again” experience — we have placed our trust in Jesus for salvation. God forgave our sins, and we’ve all become “new creations” in Jesus Christ. (2 Corinthians 5:17) Able to live confidently in this life and to live forever after in the next one.
A “Once upon a time” new beginning and a “happy, ever after” ending is not the stuff of fairy tales but the expectancy of everyone who trusts in the Lord Jesus. He is The Way, The Truth, and The Life. As St. Augustine put it: “Without the Way there is no going; without the Truth there is no knowing; and without The Life there is no living.”
Are you ready and willing to become a follower of Jesus? You are? Believe in your heart that Jesus died for your sins, confess that he is your Lord and that God raised him from death to life, and you will be saved — made safe. Not just in this life but Forever After.
Please do it now because only then will you have peace with God and personal peace in your heart. If you read this alone and act on it, you will be glad that you did. Not only in this life but more importantly, in the life which is to come.
We should not mistake the scaffold of this life for the building of the new one hidden behind it. The “outer person” is the temporary scaffold”; the “inner person” is the new life that’s Under Construction. In November, I will turn 86, and if the Lord does not return in the next decade, physical death will ‘deconstruct’ my present body and my new one will not appear until the Lord has raised me from the grave with a new one in possession! How sad will be the sight of all the ‘dilapidated’ bodies present at the Final Judgement.
Bottom Line: See this as a Not a Too Good to be True Offer but as one that’s Too Good Not to be True!
Sadly, “Limited Offer” does apply, however. There’s no better time than now to give your life to the Lord Jesus!
