The Daily Reminder

I like newspapers (having edited one myself), and the front page of most of them has a title that relates to Time. “The Daily Mail” for example. Others bear the words “Courier” or “Herald” because they proclaim the latest news on the world, national, city, or local, suburban scene.

The apostle Peter writes of prophecy as “a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns, and the Morning Star rises in your hearts.” We know the “Morning Star” to be Venus, the planet that remains visible to the eye for some time after the sun has risen.

As the glory of every “star” of this spiritually dark world disappears into the ‘night’ of this present age, the Morning Star “rises” in our hearts and ushers in a new day. One day it will usher in Christ’s return and the beginning of his worldwide reign.

Venus, the Morning Star, is a celestial body that ushers in each day, but the greater Morning Star is the Lord Jesus, who at present is in Heaven. This splendid Morning Star rises in our hearts daily, and will do so until THE day! So, let’s not just live in expectation of the Lord’s return, “someday”, but expect it each and every day, bearing in mind that today could be The Day. Because other long-awaited things have been known to appear suddenly! (Luke 4:21)
