7 Elements in One Overnight Miracle

An outline of 2 Kings 7:1

1. The Prophets message (v. 1) Elisha delivered it and had no further part in the matter. We have the promise of Jesus and that’s sufficient!

2. The Advisor’s Unbelief (v. 2) But no need for God to open “windows in heaven” when there would be more than enough down on earth. Likewise, we pray vertically and expect God’s answers horizontally.

3. The Lepers’ Fatalism (v. 3) No faith out there in the Twilight Zone, but God used the four fatalists anyway, after they examined their options and chose the one that might work. God used it regardless.

4. The King’s Scepticism (v. 12) Too good to be true? Too good not to be! Fatalism in the lepers, unbelief in the king’s adviser, scepticism in the king — what next! All that mattered was God’s prophetic promise!

5. The Servant’s Suggestion (v. 13) So sensible that even the king saw it. Better a sensible suggestion from a servant than unbelief from an advisor!

6. The Adviser’s Death (v. 17) He was killed in the rush! Got in the way of those who believed the good news and couldn’t wait to see the miracle for themselves.

7. The Prophecy Fulfilled (v. 18) But no reappearance by the prophet (who was sleeping soundly on a promise from God). So, pray, receive a promise, and sleep on it!
