I viewed a couple of lengthy TV interviews with Tommy Robinson. Yes, he is reactive and profane, but what struck me was what he said about Jesus Christ, the Bible, and Christianity. (Not so much the established church, but he did speak well of a “pastor” who visited him in his solitary confinement cell in prison and encouraged him.)
Tommy’s ‘testimony’ of Jesus and of the Christian Faith being foundational to civilization, was clearer than that of many so-called ‘progressive’ ministers. I’m inclined toward the possibility that Tommy is “not far from the kingdom of God”.
Many who know themselves to be sinners are a lot closer to it than those who think they’re in the kingdom but whose views are far from the biblical teachings of Jesus Christ and his Apostles. (Do those ministers ever preach from New Testament epistle of Romans, chapter One).
May God save Tommy Robinson through Jesus Christ, whose name he so often “takes in vain”. Until then, may God protect him from those who seek to do him harm. We have all sinned and come short of the glory of God, but Jesus saved John Newton, a slave-trader, who went on to write that much-loved hymn “Amazing Grace”.
May Tommy Robinson soon sing it along with rest of us who were bound for Hell but by the grace of God were saved through the blood that Jesus willingly shed for us — and for everyone else — on the Cross.
