Get On and Don’t Get Off

Think of your spiritual life as a bus or railway journey. You get on with the thought of getting off at your destination. If you get off before your destination, you’ll not reach it.

Why would you get off? Attraction? Distraction? Maybe catch the next bus or train? If so your time of arrival will be later than if you had not been distracted. In so doing, you may have missed an important contact or opportunity.

But you ask, would not God have known all this in advance, and so have arranged the appointment at a time after my arrival on the later train? God doesn’t work that way. There’s no second-best will of God — you’re either in His will or you’re not.

So, after getting ‘on the train’ — into His will and purpose — don’t get off along the way! Don’t get out of His will before the predestined appointment. It’s not rocket science, more like a travel timetable.
